Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has said that if the youth of the state are imparted training, made skilled and given job opportunities, the state can not only become a front ranking state in the world but can also leave behind many countries on the index of progress.

Adding that the state government was making all efforts to provide jobs to the youth, he expressed happiness that UP Skill Development Mission being run by the state government was finding favours from the private sector and under this almost 1 lakh young men, women between age 14-35 years have been provided with job-oriented training.

The Chief Minister was speaking at ‘Yuvaon ko, Yuvaon ki kalam Se” – a programme organized by the UP Skill Development Mission and Bharat Abhyuday Foundation (BAF) at his official residence. On this occasion, he also gave away laptops to 50 students from 12 government colleges for giving good suggestions and drawing the attention of the state and felicitated six teachers for providing individual help.

With this, the Chief Minister also handed over appointment letters to 100 trained women under the Skill Development Mission and also released a detailed book ‘Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission’. He also launched a website – www.lifeset.net – of the BAF to guide unemployed youth and released a booklet ‘My School, My Voice’.

In presence of the Chief Minister, the Minister of State for Skill Development, Prof Abhishek Mishra signed Flexi MoU’s with representatives of Cafe Coffee Day Bangalore, G4S Gurgaon, Future Corporate Resource Ltd. Mumbai, Super House Kanpur, Shree Laxmi Cotsyn Ltd, Kanpur, TNS Noida and Zicom Electronics Security System Mumbai, Agra Foot Wear Manufactures & Exporters Chamber and Karvy Data Management Services Ltd. and exchanged documents, under which plans have been mulled to provide 60 thousand young men and women within the next five years jobs by training them.

On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Corporation signed an MoU with the Mission to give a priority, through outsourcing, to successful pass outs in providing employment. Mr. Yadav lauded the work done by the BAF and the Skill Development Mission and said both of them were encouraging state’s youths to be independent. He praised the efforts of BAF for becoming a bridge between the state government and students in different schools and colleges and increasing their selfconfidence.

The Chief Minister also lauded the students for their letters and suggestions and said that many students have in fact drawn the attention of the government to problems being faced by them. Mentioning the vast pool of youth in the state, Mr. Yadav said making them skilled was a major necessity because with the skill development, they can provide creative assistance for the betterment of the society.

Skill Development MoS Prof. Abhishek Mishra lamented how not even 2 % of the country’s population was getting formal training and informed that in many developed countries this statistics was 70% thereby readying these people as skilled professionals. He also detailed how the Chief Minister was leading from the front to provide all cooperation to the Mission. Mr. Yasir Shah, MoS for power proposed the vote of thanks.

Before this, addressing the event, chief secretary Mr. Alok Ranjan said the state government was conducting an integrated skill development programme by bringing central government run Deendayal Upadhyaya Rural Skill Development scheme, Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Caste sub plan, multi-sectoral development plan (public Welfare Scheme), Border Area Development programme and Building and Other Construction Workers projects.

He added that from December 21, 2013 till now almost 46 lakh youth have registered themselves. Mr. Beni Madhav of Cafe Coffee Day, Ms. Ekta Chaturvedi of Future Corporate Resource Ltd, Mr. Shashank Vikram of UP State Tourism Corporation, Mr. Pooran Dabur of the Agra Foot Wear manufactures and Exporters Chambers lauded the efforts of the state government and assured their best foot forward to provide skill training and make youth potentially fit for jobs.

Getting their appointment letters after training under the Skill Development Mission, Ms. Sufiya Ansari, Ms. Sunita Yadav and Ms. Mahima Yadav and Ms. Bushra of the BAF expressed their views and lauded the efforts of the state government. Ms. Sufiya Ansari and Ms. Sunita Yadav said they come from economically weaker sections of the society where financial help for higher education was next to impossible. The efforts of the state government, they said, were now providing them with so many opportunities. The two girls’ dream of becoming IPS and getting education at AIIMS may now be fulfilled.

Chairperson of BAF Ms. Sameena Bano and Mr. Vinod Yadav also expressed their views. Also present were PWD Minister Mr. Shivpal Singh Yadav, Political Pensions Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, Secondary Education Minister Mr. Mehboob Ali, MP Mrs. Dimple Yadav, Principal Secretary (Information) Mr. Navneet Sahgal, Secretary to CM, Mr. Parthasarthy Sen Sharma, Secretary Skill Development Department Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Mission Director Ms. Ritu Maheshwari, people’s representatives and other officers.
