The Ambassador of The Netherlands, H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga came on a two day business visit to Uttar Pradesh with a dedicated Dutch business delegation in order to factualise the potential through formal interactions with the highest authorities in the State and with the private sector in UP.

During the visit, H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga met Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri. Akhilesh Yadav to know about his plans for his state and his views on economic reforms and collaboration with foreign businesses and institutes.

“This is my first opportunity to interact with the business community in the State of Uttar Pradesh. On this visit I am accompanied by officials from my Embassy and a dedicated Business delegation including Royal HaskoningDHV, Philips, TNT and Ecorys, representing key sectors from the The Netherlands which may contribute substantially to the ambitions of Uttar Pradesh,”

“I am happy to learn that the Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy 2012 of the State, that was shared during the recently concluded Partnership Summit in Agra, showcased the economic power and ambition of the state. I am convinced that under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister, U.P. is poised for reform driven growth and will become one of the front runners in attracting Foreign Direct Investments in the country,” The Ambassador of The Netherlands, H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga said at the meeting.

H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga took special interest in areas like urban development & infrastructure, logistics and waterways, energy efficiency / city & heritage lighting plan, logistics, health, sanitation & water supply. He also scheduled to visit the plant of India’s biggest business group Tata Motors in Lucknow. Tata Steel is the biggest foreign investor in The Netherlands.

At the event, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Utter Pradesh Shri. Akhilesh Yadav welcomed the Ambassador along with the delegations and he also invited the private sector companies industrialists to invest in UP and become the part of UP development.

H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga also met Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Shri. Banwari Lal Joshi  and  Chief Secretary- Government of Utter Pradesh, Mr. Jawed Usmani today, and discussed on what the future plans are for UP and what their views are on cooperation with foreign governmental bodies, companies and institutes and how he sees added values for The Netherlands.

Among other state officials with whom the Netherlands ambassador will be meeting during his visit are met during his visit were Chief Secretary- Government of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Jawed Usmani, State Minister Protocol and Principle advisor to the CM, Abhishek Mishra and, Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Energy and Industrial Development Commissioner.

Noting the importance of education, H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga also visited Lucknow University where he gave a lecture for the students and met Vice Chancellor and Dean, Mr. B. Patnaik. More and more Indian students are attracted to The Netherlands academic education and the possibilities for them in R&D through study in this European country. The university was a well-known institute for the Ambassador since his son studied there a few years ago.
